Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Austin Jackson hit an inside-the-park homer and a triple as the Detroit Tigers beat the Texas Rangers, 6-2, in the opener of a three-game series.

Jackson's first career inside-the-park homer was the first by a Tigers player since Curtis Granderson did so on August 26, 2007 against the Yankees. In addition, Jackson became the first Tigers player to collect a triple and inside-the-park home run in same game since Steve Kemp on September 4, 1977 against Oakland.

Prince Fielder added a three-run homer for the Tigers, who were coming off a 5-2 homestand. Delmon Young and Miguel Cabrera had an RBI apiece.

Max Scherzer (11-6) gave up two runs on eight hits over six innings to pick up the win. He struck out eight and walked two while improving to 4-0 in seven career starts against Texas.

Josh Hamilton hit a solo homer for the Rangers, who were coming off a 4-2 road trip. Elvis Andrus added an RBI single.

Scott Feldman (6-7) allowed four runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings to suffer his first loss since June 14. He had won four straight starts and six straight decisions coming into Friday's game.
