OTSEGO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - A Plainwell-area man is dead after a motorcycle crash Monday.
Allegan County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the crash on 106th Avenue near 12th Street. when they arrived, they found Stephen Magierka III, 38, unconscious and not breathing off the side of the road. Despite efforts to revive Magierka, he was pronounced dead at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Witnesses tell investigators that Magierka has been working on the 2004 Yamaha and was on a test drive when the crash occurred. He had travelled about a half mile when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and went into the ditch.
Investigators say speed was likely a factor in the crash and Magierka was not wearing a helmet. It is unknown if alcohol played a role in the crash.
