GRAND RAPIDS - Grab your partner and rustle up your posse for the tenth annual American Cancer Society Cattle Baron's Ball, which will take place Friday, Aug. 10, at Steelcase Town Hall, 1111 44th St. SE, Grand Rapids.
Cowboys From Around the World is the theme for this year's event known for its festive atmosphere and delicious western fare. Each year local restaurants, caterers and vendors provide the most delicious cowboy-inspired cuisine during the strolling dinner. Full country western bar and beverages, dancing and entertainment, along with outstanding silent and live auctions make the Cattle Baron's Ball West Michigan's most unique fundraising event in the ongoing battle against cancer.
This year Brian Vander Ark, best known as lead singer for the band The Verve Pipe, is in the saddle as Master of Ceremonies while The Family featuring Kelly Carey will be kicking up their heels with a high-energy show and unique sound.
"This year, we celebrate a significant milestone with 10 years and nearly $2 million raised for our organization," said Kyle Amanda Dutkiewicz, Distinguished Events Specialist for the American Cancer Society. "We acknowledge that this would not be possible without the amazing support of West Michigan businesses and individuals who give of their time, money and talents each year. Together, we have made an important impact on cancer, enabling us to continue funding research, and patient programs and services that support approximately 57,790 Michiganders who will be diagnosed with cancer this year. "
In addition to serving as the largest source of non-governmental funding for cancer research, the American Cancer Society supports the West Michigan community through a variety of programs and services, including transportation assistance, health insurance navigation, cancer screening information, and no-charge lodging at the Hope Lodge, Peter M. Wedge Guest House, for cancer patients traveling to Grand Rapids for treatment.
