KALAMAZOO TWP., Mich. (WZZM) - Authorities have taken 14 dogs from a home in Kalamazoo County and arrested the owner for allegedly running a dog fighting operation.
Investigators were watching the home on the the 300 block of Darling in Kalamazoo Township for five months.
The dogs had scrapes and bite marks, and the Humane Society of the United States tells WZZM 13 they also found a fighting area with dried blood.
On Friday, another Kalamazoo County man was arrested for dog fighting and 32 dogs were taken.
All of the animals are described by authorities at the scene as pitbulls. Many of the dogs at the Darling location were tied up, left outside, and sick.
The dogs are now being treated. They will be monitored, and in time adopted out. Authorities say their busts are a message that dog fighting won't be tolerated in West Michigan.
