GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WZZM)-Grand Haven is celebrating the reason behind its title of Coast Guard City USA.
Children lined the streets downtown Saturday for the Coast Guard Festival's kids parade. Bands played as floats rolled down the street. Members of the Grand Haven Church of the Nzarene spent about 24 hours putting together their float to honor the Coast Guard.
"We really want to support the Coast Guard and appreciate everything they've done for us. So it's great," said church member Laura Potter. "It's a good time for all of us to get together and celebrate."
The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival runs through August 5.
