CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Hundreds of people have turned out in memory of a 4-year-old Michigan boy whose burned remains were found buried at his house.

Authorities found the body of Carnel Chamberlain last month at the house on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian reservation, about 70 miles north of Lansing.

The memorial service was held Sunday afternoon at the Soaring Eagle Casino. It's near Mount Pleasant in Isabella County's Chippewa Township.

The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant says tribe spokesman Frank Cloutier told mourners the event was "about celebrating Carnel's life" which "has touched hundreds of thousands of hearts."

No one is charged in Carnel's death, but the man watching him the day the boy disappeared is jailed on charges he assaulted the boy weeks before.
