GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM)-Co-workers and friends prayed, sang and shared stories Wednesday night to remember a Grand Rapids man killed in a suspected road rage confrontation.

Lance Byers, 42, was just a mile from his office at the Department of Human Services Tuesday morning, when police think his Saturn bumped the rear of a black Lincoln Navigator. Someone inside the Navigator shot and killed Byers after an argument.

Wednesday night, more than 100 of Byers' co-workers and friends held a march in his memory. Many of them are still stunned by his violent death.

"I can't even imagine him being in any kind of conflict with anyone," said Robin Reed, who worked with Byers. "There was just such a warmth and kindness about him. He just exuded so much energy and love for everything. He just was a good man."

"Lance brought a lot of smiles to a lot of people's faces. He didn't just speak to you when he saw you; he always had something to say, crack a joke," said co-worker Michael Travis.

Wednesday night's candle lit march started at the DHS office where Byers worked and ended near the intersection where he was shot.
