(WZZM) - Are you a "savvy" shopper? Toni Yeck of Sparta certainly is. She likes to shop early and also save. That's why she looks for sales after she makes purchases.
She knows she can save a lot of money when a price adjustment occurs at a store where she made a recent purchase. All you have to do is go back to the store and show guest services your receipt. You will get the price markdown as long as its within the alloted time period.
"I've done that several times and if I have to, I'll return a gift and buy it somewhere else. I keep on the ads. I check online all the time," said Yeck.
A brand new app just out Thursday is designed to help super savers like Toni. It's called "savvy." It's an app that's available on iPhones and the web and it's coming to Android Phones soon.
"Our app is specifically designed to help people save money after they buy products," says Paul Patterson of Pricetector, the company behind "savvy". "We look at each individual item and the price on the website of the retailer twice a day to identify any price drops that a consumer can take advantage of. In the holidays last year, consumers spent approximately $380 billion according to the Commerce Department. Our research shows they would be entitled to 6% or roughly $20 billion back, based on retailers' price adjustment policies. We'll support roughly forty-five retailers from the get-go and we'll be supporting through our web application another one hundred retailers. It has a pretty broad coverage base, everybody from Amazon to Zappos."
Toni plans to sign up soon. "Even if I had to pay for it, I'd get it."
She doesnt' have to, savvy is completely free.
