MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM)- It's the most requested product right now - everyone wants to know if the Eggies really work. They're little containers that allow you to hard boil eggs without the shell, so there's no more messy peeling.
Helene Secord of Muskegon helped me test them out. She boils eggs all the time for potato salad, egg salad, deviled eggs, you name it! Peeling eggs can be a pain, but NOTHING compared to the process it takes to make a hard boiled egg with the Eggies.
First of all, there are dozens of pieces to assemble - four parts for every Eggie. Then, the egg overflows so you get goo everywhere, and when you're boiling the eggs in the Eggies, part of the egg white seeps out. It's a long process of assembling, coating the inside of the Eggies with cooking spray or oil, boiling the eggs and letting them cool, only to have the eggs turn out oddly shaped.
The eggs come out of the Eggies looking like half of a hard boiled egg, which is not exactly great for deviled eggs. Then, despite using cooking spray, there's egg stuck on all the parts you have to wash.
Peeling eggs isn't fun, but trust me, you'd rather do that than use the Eggies. It is the worst product I've tested in a long time. But, if you're still interested, we bought ours at Bed Bath and Beyond for $9.99. But don't waste your money.
