(WZZM) -- Some people de-claw their cats, but if that's not an option, they can trim their cat's claws to keep them from scratching up things around the house. Another option is a scratching post. But the "Emery Cat" is a different product that promises to file and groom a cat's nails while it's playing.
It comes with a bag of catnip that you can sprinkle all over to entice your cat to use it.
When we tested it, we noticed it worked -- at first.
Two of the cats owned by our Amy seemed to like it. so we set up a motion-detecting camera to see if the cats would continue to use it. But our camera recorded the results -- the cats had no interest in it.
"None of 'em liked it," Amy said. "When we first were here they went at it right away and it looked like we had success, but then it was a novelty-- nope they just walked right passed it."
In fact, Amy's cats kept clawing at their favorite spots around the house.
Felines are finicky, so your pet may like the "Emery Cat." But Amy said, "I'm so glad I didn't buy it."
