Heat-loving plants

(WZZM) - Greenthumb Rick Vuyst says plants transpire like people perspire. You'll find that shade loving plants generally have bigger foliage. That's because it cools the root system, thus they survive.

Stokes Aster is one plant that's native to the Northeastern United States and likes to grow in the full sun. Plants like this have a pronounced mid-rib right down the middle. This allows the foliage to close up and avoid the excessive heat.

While you may not like the humid weather, our plants actually do better with it than with dry air.
